Patek Philippe has given the steel Aquanaut a new look for its Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Milan with the Aquanaut 5167A-014. Because the reference 5167A-014 keeps the familiar 40.8 mm case and self-winding calibre 26-330 S C, only the color changes: a sunburst blue dial, a red minute track and a red seconds hand. It is also a limited edition of 250 pieces.

First, we cover what is new in the Aquanaut 5167A-014. Then we compare it with the regular 5167A-001, and finally we explain why Milan.

What makes the Aquanaut 5167A-014 different

First, the dial is sunburst blue, deepening to a black-gradient rim at the edge, with the Aquanaut’s embossed pattern across the center. In addition, Patek Philippe adds two touches of red: a transfer-printed minute scale around the dial, and a sweep seconds hand varnished in red. Meanwhile, the applied numerals and baton-style hands are white gold with white luminescent coating, and the date sits in an aperture at 3 o’clock.

The integrated composite strap is also midnight blue to match. Moreover, it carries the same embossed Aquanaut pattern as the dial, and Patek Philippe’s patented fold-over clasp closes it with four independent catches. Finally, turn the Aquanaut 5167A-014 over and you will find the sapphire case back transfer-printed with “Patek Philippe Milano 2026”.

In other words, the case, the movement and the proportions of the 5167A-014 are the 5167A you already know. In fact, the only differences are the color and the inscription on the back.

The case and movement

As before, the steel case of the 5167A-014 measures 40.8 mm across from 10 to 4 o’clock and 8.1 mm thick, with the Aquanaut’s octagonal bezel in contrasting polished and satin finishes and a screw-down crown. In addition, it is water-resistant to 30 meters.

Inside the 5167A-014 is calibre 26-330 S C, Patek Philippe’s self-winding movement with date and sweep seconds. It has a stop-seconds function, so the seconds hand halts when you pull out the crown for precise setting. Patek Philippe builds it from 207 parts with 30 jewels. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with a Gyromax balance and a Spiromax balance spring, and it runs for 35 to 45 hours on a full wind. Meanwhile, its 21K gold central rotor turns behind the sapphire case back. Finally, the movement carries the Patek Philippe Seal.

Why Milan

Patek Philippe created the Aquanaut 5167A-014 for the Watch Art Grand Exhibition Milan 2026, which runs from October 2 to 18 at the CityOval, formerly the Palazzo delle Scintille. It is the seventh of Patek Philippe’s Grand Exhibitions, a series that has visited cities including Dubai, Singapore and Tokyo. In addition, the exhibition brings together more than 500 pieces.

Patek Philippe made seven limited editions for the occasion, all for the Italian market. Together, they range from minute repeaters made in five pieces each to the Aquanaut 5167A-014, which at 250 pieces is the largest edition of the seven and the only one in steel.

A short note on the Aquanaut

Patek Philippe introduced the Aquanaut in 1997 as a more casual sports watch, with a rounded octagonal case and a dial and strap embossed with a grid pattern. Later, the 5167A followed in 2007 for the collection’s 10th anniversary, and it remains the reference most people picture when they think of a steel Aquanaut. In short, the Aquanaut 5167A-014 is that watch in a new color, with a story attached. You can also see the rest of the line on Patek Philippe’s own Aquanaut collection page.
