The Fifty Fathoms was made in 1953 for the French navy's combat swimmers, and it settled most of what a dive watch would be for the next seventy years — a unidirectional bezel that cannot be turned the wrong way, luminous markers legible at depth, and a case sealed against water rather than merely resistant to it. The modern 45mm keeps the proportions. Calibre 1315 runs three barrels in series for five days of reserve with a silicon balance spring, and the sapphire bezel insert will not fade the way aluminium did.
