The Super Chronomat in solid 18K red gold, with a brown dial and matched brown rubber that keeps it from tipping into ostentation. Gold changes the character of a 44mm pilot's chronograph considerably — the case catches light where steel would stay flat — but the architecture is unaltered: three chronograph counters, a date at three, a ceramic bezel inlay and the four rider tabs the Chronomat has carried since 1984. The Manufacture Caliber 01 is Breitling's own column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch, COSC-certified with roughly 70 hours of reserve.
