Rose gold suits the Ballon Bleu better than yellow does, because the case has so much curved surface that a warmer metal reads as glow rather than glare. Here it is used sparingly: a rose gold bezel and crown against a steel case, on a two-tone bracelet, at 33mm. The result is a watch that changes colour depending on which part of it catches the light — the gold bezel and the steel flanks never quite agree. The dial is silvered guilloché with black Roman numerals, the hands blued steel, the crystal sapphire, the movement self-winding. Water-resistant to 30 metres, bracelet interchangeable. Of the two-tone references this is the smallest and the least emphatic, which is precisely why it is the easiest to wear every day.
