The Tank Française in solid 18K yellow gold, small model, 25.7mm by 21.2mm, on a matching gold bracelet. Introduced in 1996, the Française is the Tank drawn around its bracelet: the brancards, the two long sides of the case, carry straight on into the links, so case and bracelet read as one continuous piece of gold rather than a watch on a band. At the centre sits a silvered sunray dial with black Roman numerals and blued-steel sword hands, and the faceted gold crown is set with a sapphire cabochon. A quartz movement keeps the case slim; the crystal is sapphire and the watch is water-resistant to 30 metres. In gold, the Française becomes as much a bracelet as a watch, and it sits naturally beside a gold bangle or chain bracelet on the same wrist, where the matching metal lets the two pieces read as a set.
