The medium Tank Française in steel, 32.0mm by 27.0mm, on the integrated steel bracelet the design is built around. Unlike the Tank Louis Cartier, which is made for a strap, the Française treats case and bracelet as a single architecture: the sides of the case flow into the first links, giving the watch a solid, all-of-a-piece look that suits everyday wear. The silvered dial is laid out in the classic Cartier way, black Roman numerals around a central field, and the hands are blued-steel swords; a synthetic spinel cabochon tops the faceted steel crown. Inside is a quartz movement, under sapphire, with 30 metres of water resistance. The medium case is broad enough to sit well on a larger wrist yet slim enough for a smaller one, which makes this plain steel version the easiest of the Française references to wear every day, with anything from a suit to a T-shirt.
