Steel and mother-of-pearl are a better pairing than they sound, because both are reflective in quite different ways. The bracelet throws hard, directional light off its polished links; the shell dial scatters soft iridescence that shifts through pink and green as the angle changes. Worn together the watch never looks flat from any direction. This is the plain-bezel version, so nothing on the case competes with the dial, and the applied rhodium-plated indexes and Roman numerals are all the marking it gets. An onyx cabochon sits in the crown as the single dark note. The small date is at six, and behind the sapphire case back the automatic Calibre 39-22 runs with its swan-neck fine adjustment in plain view.
