Of all the Lady Serenade references this is the coldest in palette, and deliberately so: a blue shell dial, diamond hour markers, 52 brilliant-cut stones around the bezel, a diamond crown and a polished steel bracelet, without a single warm element anywhere. The effect is closer to ice than to jewellery. What saves it from being austere is the mother-of-pearl itself, which refuses to stay one colour - move the wrist and the blue turns through green and violet, because the hue lives in the structure of the shell rather than in a pigment. The bracelet's broad polished links carry the same cool light. A small date sits at six, and behind the sapphire case back the automatic Calibre 39-22 runs with a swan-neck fine adjustment.
