The Panorama Date is Glashütte Original's own solution to a problem most brands ignore: a date built from two discs usually shows a dividing line between the digits. Here both discs sit on the same level, so the two numerals read as a single large date with no step between them - and at six o'clock, directly below the logo, it becomes the dial's centre of gravity rather than an afterthought at three. On a red gold case with a silver-white dial and gold indexes, the white date window is the one cool element on the watch, which is precisely what stops the design becoming monotone. The 42mm case gives the domed dial room, and the automatic Calibre 39-47 beats at 4 Hz with a 40-hour reserve.
