Yellow gold, black dial, black alligator — the 1908 in its most traditional arrangement, and the closest Rolex currently comes to the dress watches it built before the Oyster case defined the company. There is no rotating bezel, no date and no bracelet; the case is slim, the lugs are curved, and the back is sapphire so calibre 7140 can be seen working. Fifty metres of water resistance is a deliberate statement rather than a limitation.
