Golden dial, yellow gold case, trapeze-cut diamonds on the bezel: this Daytona would dissolve into a single warm glow if not for the bright black rings Rolex draws around its three counters. Those circles give the chronograph back its structure, and they frame a dial set with eight baguette hour markers and round diamonds at three, six and nine. The lugs are set as well, which brings the case to ninety stones weighing 5.58 carats. Worn on the black Oysterflex strap, elastomer moulded over flexible metal blades, the watch keeps a sporting edge that a full gold bracelet would soften, and the Oysterlock clasp has a Glidelock extension for fine adjustment. Inside, calibre 4131 powers the chronograph for close to three days, while the Triplock crown and pushers screw down to keep it sealed to 100 metres.
