A bright blue dial with Roman numerals gives this Oystersteel Rolex Datejust 36 its color, framed by a domed bezel and carried on the Jubilee bracelet. The blue is vivid rather than muted, and because the case and bracelet are steel, the dial carries the watch's entire palette. Roman numerals lend a formal touch that stops so strong a blue from feeling casual, while the Jubilee's many small links ripple with light along the wrist. Around it, the smooth domed bezel stays quiet and lets the blue lead. The blue theme continues out of sight: calibre 3235 has a blue Parachrom hairspring, paramagnetic by design, and about 70 hours of reserve. This Rolex Datejust 36, water resistant to 330 feet, shows how much character one dial can give an all-steel watch.
