This Rolex Datejust 36 combines Oystersteel and 18 ct yellow gold as Yellow Rolesor, with a white dial marked in Roman numerals, a domed yellow gold bezel and the Jubilee bracelet. White is the brightest possible backdrop for yellow gold, and Roman numerals add a traditional note that suits the pairing of steel and gold. The smooth domed bezel catches light along its curve, while the Jubilee's fine links mix both metals and shimmer as the wrist moves. Cushioned by Paraflex shock absorbers, calibre 3235 keeps going for about 70 hours between wearings. Scratch-resistant sapphire covers the dial, and the Oyster case, with its monobloc middle and screw-down back, is water resistant to 100 meters. As a dress watch, this Rolex Datejust 36 looks the part without ever feeling fussy.
