A blue ombré dial with Roman numerals sits at the heart of this Rolex Day-Date 36, cased in 950 platinum with a fluted bezel and a President bracelet in the same metal. The blue runs from a lighter middle to a deeper shade at the rim. Platinum has a pale, cool sheen that suits the color and lets the fluting on the bezel stand out. Fittingly, the hairspring inside is blue as well: a paramagnetic blue Parachrom spring in calibre 3255. The movement keeps around 70 hours of power in reserve. Water resistance is 100 meters, or 330 feet. On the wrist, the Rolex Day-Date 36 tells the day by name at 12 o’clock and gives the date at 3. Its Crownclasp folds out of sight beneath the platinum links.
