Warm gold and cool diamonds meet on a Rolex Day-Date 36 built in 18 ct yellow gold, where a diamond-set bezel surrounds a champagne-colour dial marked at the hours by ten baguette-cut diamonds, and the President bracelet stays plain yellow gold. Champagne-colour is a pale golden shade, close enough to the case that dial and metal blend, leaving the stones to supply the contrast. Each baguette is long and narrow, marking its hour with a short bar of white light. With no stones on the bracelet, the brilliance gathers around the dial. A window at 12 o'clock names the weekday, and the date at 3 changes in an instant at midnight under a Cyclops lens. Calibre 3255, an officially certified Superlative Chronometer with about 70 hours of reserve, powers the Rolex Day-Date 36, and a concealed Crownclasp lets the gold continue unbroken around the wrist.
