Cool slate against warm Everose gold is the contrast at the heart of this Rolex Day-Date 36, whose slate dial carries diamonds in 18 ct gold settings at the hours and baguette-cut diamonds at the 6 and 9 positions, all ringed by baguette-cut diamonds on the bezel. Slate is a muted shade of gray, and it gives the pink gold something steady to push against. The diamonds show up sharply on that subdued ground and keep it from feeling severe. Calendar duties are split between the day, written out at 12 o'clock, and the date, enlarged at 3 o'clock by the Cyclops lens. Calibre 3255 combines a Chronergy escapement with a blue Parachrom hairspring and runs for approximately 70 hours. Its Everose President bracelet closes with a concealed Crownclasp, and the whole of this Rolex Day-Date 36 is warm and cool at once.
