Warm yellow gold surrounds a cool white mother-of-pearl dial on this Rolex Day-Date 36, set at the hours with diamonds in 18 ct gold settings and, at 6 and 9 o'clock, with baguette-cut diamonds, while more baguettes encircle the bezel. That contrast of temperatures does the work: the gold reads richer next to the pale nacre, and the nacre looks brighter inside the gold. Up close, the nacre shows soft pastel glints within its white. The weekday is spelled out at 12 o'clock, opposite one baguette, and the date at 3 faces the other. Calibre 3255 has enough reserve, about 70 hours, to bridge a weekend unworn, and Paraflex shock absorbers protect it from knocks. The President bracelet, in 18 ct yellow gold with a concealed Crownclasp, gives this Rolex Day-Date 36 an uninterrupted run of gold around the wrist.
