In 18 ct white gold, this Rolex Day-Date 36 is almost all white light: a diamond-paved dial, a bezel of baguette-cut diamonds and a white gold President bracelet, with color arriving through ten baguette-cut, rainbow-coloured sapphires at the hours. With no warm metal anywhere, the sapphires carry the whole palette, and their hues stand out sharply against the pavé. Cool metal leaves the diamonds icy and the sapphires vivid. Underneath the gems is a working Oyster: monobloc middle case, screw-down back, Twinlock crown and water resistance to 100 meters. Calibre 3255 beats inside with a Chronergy escapement, cushioned by Paraflex shock absorbers, and runs for about 70 hours. The weekday and date take their usual places at 12 and 3, and a concealed Crownclasp means this Rolex Day-Date 36 closes cleanly.
