The pink opal dial of this Rolex Day-Date 36 holds 56 diamonds on its own: 32 in the 18 ct gold hour markers and 24 in the gold Roman numerals VI and IX, with baguette-cut diamonds around the bezel of the 18 ct white gold case. As a stone, opal has a soft, milky body color, and the pink here looks fresh against cool white gold. Rolex sets the date at 3 under a Cyclops lens and spells out the day at 12 o'clock. Calibre 3255, perpetual and self-winding, has Paraflex shock absorbers and stores roughly 70 hours, and the Oyster case resists water down to 100 meters. Also in white gold, the President bracelet fastens beneath the wrist with a concealed Crownclasp, completing a Rolex Day-Date 36 where stone, diamonds and white metal share the stage.
