Reference 228348RBR-0042. A diamond-set bezel and the President bracelet around a silver dial with applied index markers. 40mm in 18 ct yellow gold. A silver dial is the most neutral thing Rolex puts on a Day-Date, and on a watch this loaded with precious metal that restraint is the whole idea. At 40mm the Day-Date is the fuller of the two sizes, redrawn in 2015 with a wider dial opening and slimmer lugs rather than simply scaled up. In yellow gold, the bezel is set with brilliant-cut diamonds in place of the fluting. It is worn on the President bracelet, made only for this model and for the Day-Date’s closest relations, with a concealed Crownclasp. Calibre 3255 sits inside with about seventy hours in reserve. Rolex lists this alongside reference 228348RBR-0007, which shares the same case, bezel, dial colour and bracelet; the two differ in a detail of finish that a photograph will not show, so it is worth seeing them together.
