This Rolex Day-Date 40 sets a blue ombré dial bearing Roman numerals inside a bezel of baguette-cut diamonds, with its 40mm case and President bracelet in 950 platinum. Baguettes are rectangular, step-cut stones, and their long, flat facets give the bezel a tailored, orderly outline. Inside that frame the blue deepens from the center outward, so the Roman numerals sit on the richer tones near the edge. Platinum's pale, cool sheen suits the color. Its calendar names the day in full at 12 o'clock and shows the date at 3, magnified through the Cyclops lens. Calibre 3255 carries a Chronergy escapement and a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, runs for approximately 70 hours and is certified as a Superlative Chronometer. With a concealed Crownclasp closing the bracelet, this Rolex Day-Date 40 is a study in cool metal, deep blue and straight-edged diamonds.
