The black Black Bay 58 is named for 1958, the year of Tudor's first 200-metre diver, and on the five-link bracelet it becomes the dressiest version of that idea. A matte black domed dial carries gilt-toned markers and the snowflake hour hand, the black bezel insert has matching gilt numerals, and the case is a compact 39mm by 11.7mm, the proportions that made the model a favourite with people who find most divers too large. The bracelet's five narrow links, polished between satin, soften the look without making it delicate. Tudor's Manufacture Calibre MT5400-U ticks inside, a movement tested as a finished watch by COSC and METAS, storing about sixty-five hours and unbothered by magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. Waterproofing is 200 metres behind a screw-down crown, and the T-fit clasp lets out or takes up length in a few steps.
