This large Cartier Tank Normale is made in platinum from case to bracelet, with a silvered opaline dial, burgundy Roman numerals and sword-shaped hands in blued steel. A ruby cabochon tops the beaded platinum crown, and its red picks up the burgundy of the numerals, the only warm notes against the cool white metal. The platinum bracelet fastens with an 18K white gold deployant buckle. Calibre 070, wound by hand, has 21 jewels and holds about 38 hours of power reserve, housed in a case 6.85mm thick. Where the yellow gold version pairs a golden dial with apple-shaped hands and a leather strap, this one opts for the paler opaline dial, sword hands and a metal bracelet, an entirely white-metal look. Like that gold model, it is not water-resistant. In platinum on platinum, this Cartier Tank Normale is the more formal of the two.
