The diamond-paved dial of this Rolex Day-Date 36 carries ten baguette-cut sapphires in rainbow colors as hour markers, all within a diamond-set bezel and an 18 ct white gold case. With stones on the dial and on the bezel, the gold becomes the setting rather than the subject. The sapphires supply the only color, a ring of it circling the dial, and against the diamond pavé each one reads clearly as an hour. Even so, the calendar stays practical: the weekday is named at 12 o'clock and the date shown at 3. The perpetual, self-winding calibre 3255 holds close to 70 hours in reserve. The President bracelet is left in plain white gold, closing with a concealed Crownclasp, so the dial of this Rolex Day-Date 36 keeps every bit of the attention.
